Samira & Fara's Rising Futures Story

Allow us to introduce Samira and Fara, two remarkable young individuals who participated in the Rising Futures Programme at The Langley Academy earlier this year. We had the privilege of interviewing them about their experience on the programme!

Throughout their time in the programme, both students made significant strides in building their Confidence and Communication skills. They now feel more confident about their future paths and are better equipped to achieve their personal goals.

For Samira, the coaching sessions and trip days were instrumental in boosting her confidence “in all areas.” She particularly appreciated the chance to engage in activities that pushed her beyond her comfort zone, helping her become “a better” version of herself. As a result, Samira gained a new found self-belief and even participated in the school’s ‘Speak Up’ Challenge, presenting in front of her peers—a feat she would not have attempted before.

Fara, who initially struggled with trying new things and felt “mostly afraid of talking to people,” has since experienced tremendous growth. She has now spoken in front of large groups and embraced new hobbies, such as joining the cadets.

Looking ahead, both students are feeling more optimistic and clear about their futures. Samira is now focused on her “goals for the future and how to follow them through,” having learned to set SMART goals. The programme also helped Fara reflect on her long-term ambitions, encouraging her to plan out the next 5 to 10 years of her life.

We are thrilled to witness the progress both Samira and Fara have made and are proud of how the programme has helped them build self-belief and work toward their aspirations.

Please help us to help more students like Samira and Fara by giving your support to our #ChristmasChallenge Campaign

We’ve been selected by Big Give to raise £10,000 this December which will be match funded pound for pound by The Dulverton Trust.  That means we have the potential to raise £20,000 in a 7-day period between 3rd December midday and 10th December midday, enabling us to support another 350 young people through our coaching programmes in 2025.

This is a huge fundraising goal for us at Yes Futures and we need your help.
